What exactly is the BattleDock?

The BattleDock is not a replacement for your official Nintendo Switch 2 dock – it's an adapter that wraps around it. Simply slide your Switch 2 dock into the BattleDock's shelf, connect the two via the included cable (2× USB‑A into the Switch dock, 1× USB‑C into the BattleDock) – and you instantly have four fully functional GameCube controller ports on the front. The result looks like one clean, cohesive unit sitting on your TV stand.

Four ports, competitive-grade latency

The front panel gives you four GameCube controller ports – compatible with original wired pads, the WaveBird, and modern wireless controllers like RetroFighters' own BattlerGC. According to RetroFighters, the BattleDock was specifically engineered to reduce the input latency of the official Nintendo GameCube adapter (4 ms) even further. For four-player Smash Bros. sessions on the couch, that's exactly what you want.

By the way: the BattleDock also works with the original Switch 1 dock via the same USB connection – though the Switch 1 dock won't physically slot into the BattleDock's shelf, so the setup looks a bit less tidy.

What are the limitations?

A few things worth knowing before you buy:

• GameCube controllers have no Home or Minus button – you'll still need a Joy‑Con or Pro Controller nearby to get back to the Switch 2 home screen.
• Wired controllers mean either moving the dock closer to the couch or sitting closer to the TV.
• The BattleDock does not replace your Switch 2 dock – you still need the official dock.
