Simply turn on your console, and the Hydra will detect the active signal and switch to it automatically with a cool "Knight Rider" style LED sequence. Each of the 16 inputs is galvanically separated, meaning interference or signal noise from one device won't affect the others – you'll always get clean, crisp RGB video quality. If you have multiple consoles running simultaneously, you can easily switch between them using the front panel buttons or your own remote control.
What's New in the Revised Version?
This revised model includes several important improvements over the previous Hydra 2. The signal detection hysteresis has been enhanced to work with virtually all SCART cables, even those that caused issues before. You now get three independent audio buffers for each audio output, ensuring pristine sound quality. Input 2 features a Sync on Green mode (controlled via SW7 switch) for specialized equipment, while input 8 offers an RGB Only/Auto mode (SW8 switch) perfect for Amstrad computers and ZX Spectrum 128 +2/3 systems. Additional input protection has been added to safeguard the internal NCS chips.
Flexible Audio and Control Options
Beyond video switching, the W-Hydra 2 Revised offers comprehensive audio solutions. You get both stereo RCA outputs and an amplified headphone jack, both with volume control via remote. The device works with almost any infrared remote control thanks to its learning mode – just hold the middle button while powering on, and the Hydra will guide you through programming your preferred remote buttons using its LED indicators.
Power and Output Flexibility
The switcher can be powered via a standard micro USB mobile phone charger (5V, approximately 1A recommended) or a barrel jack connector (2.1/5.1mm, 7.5V-9V AC/DC), giving you flexibility in your setup.
