The ModRetro Chromatic is an FPGA based recreation of the classic GameBoy Color handheld.
It's compatible with classic GameBoy and GameBoy Color cartridges and also supports original Link cables and IR Link.

Like the classic GameBoy, the Chromatic is nearly indestructable, thanks to an Magnesium Alloy Shell and an extra strong and either Gorilla Glass or the even more scratch-resistant Sapphire Glass in front of the screen.

Speaking of the screen: It's a real 160X144 pixel 2.56” IPS backlit LCD which can also be used in sunlight.
And it offers lag-free video out via a USB-C port - which can be used for streaming original games, for example.

The firmware is upgradable using a tool which can be downloaded here from the official website.

It's powered using three standard AA batteries or a custom Lithium Ion Pack, which can be charged directly in the handheld.
