Say goodbye to cable swapping and hello to seamless retro gaming with automatic SCART switching!
The Mini Hydra Revised by Lotharek is a fully automatic SCART video switcher that connects up to 5 retro consoles or computers to a single TV or monitor. Whether you're playing on your Amiga, SNES, Mega Drive, PlayStation, or any other classic system, the Hydra Mini intelligently detects which device is active and routes the signal automatically. No more crawling behind your setup to swap cables every time you want to switch systems!
Built with a premium powder-coated metal case, this revised version combines durability with style. The automatic switching works seamlessly with RGB, S-Video, and composite signals, ensuring compatibility with virtually every retro gaming setup. The "Knight Rider" style LED detection shows you exactly which input is active, and you can disable the light show if you prefer a more subtle look.
Flexible Control Options
Control your Mini Hydra your way! Use the three built-in buttons for manual source selection, or program your own IR remote control using the learning function. The remote allows you to scan for active sources, manually select specific ports, toggle the HD/SD filter, adjust headphone volume, switch between mono and stereo, and even mute audio outputs. Simply hold the middle button during power-on to enter the learning mode and assign your remote buttons.
Audio Features for Modern Convenience
Beyond video switching, the Mini Hydra Revised offers stereo RCA audio outputs and an amplified headphone jack with adjustable volume via remote control. This means you can easily connect external speakers or enjoy late-night gaming sessions without disturbing others. The mono/stereo toggle ensures proper audio routing regardless of your source signal.
Important Technical Requirements
Please use standard 75 Ohm video cables (not TTL Sync) for proper operation. The unit requires a power supply with a 5mm/2.1mm barrel connector (NOT INCLUDED). Any AC or DC power supply between 7.5V and 9V works, though 9V with at least 1.5A is recommended. Polarity doesn't matter, so if you have older barrel connector power supplies lying around, one of them will likely work perfectly.
Setup Made Simple
Imagine having your Amiga, Atari ST, ZX Spectrum, NES, SNES, and PlayStation all connected simultaneously. With the Mini Hydra, you simply power on the console you want to play, and the switcher automatically routes the signal to your display. No more wear and tear on your precious SCART sockets from constant plugging and unplugging. Connect up to 5 systems to the Hydra, connect the Hydra to your TV or monitor, power it on, and you're ready to game!
Important: Never connect or disconnect SCART plugs while the Hydra or your consoles are powered on, as this can damage the unit.
Features at a Glance
The Mini Hydra Revised includes 5 SCART inputs supporting RGB, S-Video, and composite video, plus 1 SCART output. Extra protection circuitry safeguards sync chips on each input. The improved signal detection with hysteresis ensures all cable types work reliably. The AVR controller allows for potential firmware updates, and the entire unit is fully RoHS compliant. Manual and automatic switching modes give you complete flexibility over your setup.
