The Technology Behind It
This is where things get interesting: classic lightguns only worked with CRT screens – making them useless on modern LCDs and OLEDs. GAIME solves this with AI. A high-resolution camera inside the gun barrel works together with a pre-trained AI model to automatically detect your screen and self-calibrate. No manual aiming setup, no sensor bar hassle. Just plug in, drop the pedal, and shoot.
The AI is baked into the hardware – it doesn't learn during play, but was pre-trained on massive datasets to reliably recognise screens regardless of size, ambient lighting, or angle. Small caveat: In very bright environments or unusual setups, accuracy can vary slightly – a quick manual calibration via the A button sorts that out fast.
The Blue Gun Up Close
The European version of the GAIME Lightgun comes in blue – solid, chunky, with a pleasantly manageable weight. On the sides of the barrel you'll find two action buttons (A and B), plus a Coin button, Pause button, and the all-important Recoil switch: on or off, your call. The feedback uses a vibration motor in the grip rather than a solenoid like the original arcade machine – not quite arcade-brutal, but a solid atmosphere boost. The 4m cable gives you plenty of room to move.
The Foot Pedal – The Game Changer
No pedal, no real Time Crisis. That's why it's included in the Premium Pack. One stomp and Richard Miller ducks behind cover – reloading included. This is the decisive difference over the Basic Pack and elevates the experience to genuine arcade territory.
