The SCART input module for the Scalable Video Switch (SVS) – your expansion slot for all retro consoles with a SCART connector. Accepts RGBS, RGsB (Sync on Green) and YPbPr (Component Video), compatible with both North American and European SCART cables.
- Signal formats: RGBS, RGsB (Sync on Green), YPbPr (Component Video)
- Resolutions: up to 1080p60
- Optional Toslink digital audio via SVS Toslink Input Module
- SCART-Lock compatible (Kytor Industries, 70.4mm M4 hole pattern)
- 9.5 MHz low-pass filter switchable via slider (ideal for 240p/480i sources)
SVS SCART Input Module – More Consoles, Zero Cable Chaos
Got a shelf full of retro consoles with SCART outputs – Super Nintendo, Mega Drive, PlayStation, Saturn – and tired of swapping cables? That's exactly what the SCART Input Module for the Scalable Video Switch (SVS) is built for. Slide it into the SVS chassis, plug in your cable, done.
Signal Formats & Resolutions
The module handles all the common analog RGB formats you'll encounter with retro hardware:
- RGBS – classic RGB with composite sync, e.g. from the SNES or Mega Drive
- RGsB (Sync on Green) – for consoles like the PS2 in RGB mode
- YPbPr (Component Video) – if you want to feed component sources through a SCART adapter
Resolutions from 240p all the way up to 1080p60 are accepted – covering everything from chunky pixel art to high-resolution sources.
Cable Compatibility
The module uses the standard Euro SCART connector – the one you'll find most commonly in Europe and North America. Both North American and European SCART cables work, so your existing cable collection is good to go.
9.5 MHz Low-Pass Filter – For the Noisy Old-Timers
On the front of the module there's a slider switch for an optional 9.5 MHz low-pass filter. This is designed for 240p and 480i sources with poor shielding or noisy video lines – think cheap SCART cables or older consoles with less-than-clean signals. For sources at 480p and above, leave the filter off – it would do more harm than good at higher resolutions.
Toslink Digital Audio (Optional)
With the optional SVS Toslink Input Module, the SCART Input Module can also accept digital audio via Toslink (optical S/PDIF). Perfect if you want to integrate consoles with optical output (e.g. Dreamcast, PS2 with optional adapter) into your setup without any quality loss.
SCART-Lock Compatibility
The module supports Kytor Industries SCART-Lock brackets (70.4mm M4 hole pattern). This keeps the SCART connector locked firmly in place – especially useful when your SVS isn't within easy reach and you don't want to wonder whether the cable is still seated properly.
Part of the SVS Ecosystem
The SCART Input Module is one building block of the Scalable Video Switch system – a fully modular, user-upgradable analog video switcher. The SVS chassis accepts up to 32 input modules in any combination of SCART, Component, VGA, and Composite/S-Video. Switching happens automatically via sync signal detection: turn on a console and the switch follows. No remote, no manual cable swapping.
The system integrates directly with the RetroTink 4K and supports IR blaster functions for other scalers like the RetroTink 5X, OSSC, and OSSC Pro.
Note: The SVS system does not transcode between signal formats. An RGB SCART signal stays RGB – even when routed through a component output module. Plan your output modules accordingly if your scaler requires specific formats.
