Heavy Recoil isn't some dusty port – it's a freshly crafted run-&-gun built from the ground up for Sega Mega Drive and Genesis hardware. Developed by Mikael Tillander, the coding wizard behind Tanzer and ZPF, this is a title that truly understands the soul of 16-bit gaming. Inspired by arcade legends like Rush'n Attack, Super Contra, and GunForce, Heavy Recoil delivers classic action with a modern level-design mindset.
The Story
A retired soldier is called back into action. Enemies everywhere, prisoners in captivity – and you right in the middle of it. Classic arcade feel meets stunning 16-bit pixel art.

- 18 levels with world-map navigation and branching paths – no mindless left-to-right dash
- 19 bosses – each unique, none forgettable
- 8 weapon types as power-ups, including secondary attacks – but beware: dying means losing your upgrades!
- Score points by collecting stars, rescuing hostages, and uncovering secrets
- Mission Bingo Mode: A randomized 3×3 bingo board with unique mission objectives – no two runs are the same, maximum replayability

Let's Be Honest – What You Should Know
- Single-player only: A two-player mode was planned but didn't make it in. If you're hoping for couch co-op, this one's not it.
- Game and manual are fully in English
- No rumble support (well, it's a MegaDrive game :D) – even though the kicks almost feel real ;)
