Croc: 25th Anniversary Edition – The Cult Croc is Back

Remember Baron Dante, the Gobbos, and those breathtaking icy worlds? Croc celebrates its 25th anniversary – and ModRetro has brought the classic 1997 Game Boy Color title back to life for the Chromatic. No emulator, no compromises: real cartridge, real feel.

The Story

Baron Dante has kidnapped Croc's Gobbo friends – and it's up to you to rescue them. Leap, swim, and tailspin your way through 4 unique worlds and over 30 levels: icy slopes, fiery caverns, tropical islands, and shark-infested waters. Every level is packed with hidden Gobbos, puzzle pieces, and cheeky enemies.

What's New?

  • Upgraded Controls: The controls feel noticeably smoother on the Chromatic than the original – no more fumbling around
  • Modern Save System: Auto-save keeps your progress, so you can put it down anytime
  • Boss battles against Baron Dante's minions – just as devious as in 1997, but way more playable
  • Glide on magic carpets, ski down slopes, dive into shark tanks – all faithfully reimagined

What's in the Box?

  • Physical Chromatic cartridge
  • Collectible retro cardboard box
  • Cute Croc charm for your Chromatic
  • Full-color game manual

Compatibility & Limitations

The cartridge runs on the ModRetro Chromatic as well as original Game Boy Color consoles. Important: you need compatible handheld hardware – the cartridge alone won't do. If you don't own an original GBC, the Chromatic is your best bet.

Bottom Line

Croc: 25th Anniversary Edition is nostalgia with real added value. The upgraded controls make a genuine difference, and the premium packaging turns this cartridge release into a true collector's item. A must for anyone who loves the cult croc – or wants to finally catch up on what they missed in 1997.
