The RetroTINK 2X-Pro is a video converter especially aimed for playing your retro consoles on a modern TV using HDMI.
It's been optimized to have as little lag as possible, offers a frame doubler, comb filter, and can simulate scanlines to make the games look similar as they did on CRT TVs.
Simply connect your console via Component, S-Video or Composite - and that's it.
You will be amazed how good even Composite video can look!
The features in detail:
- Professional injection molded enclosure
- Inputs: Component, S-video, Composite (shared with the green jack)
- Output: Digital Video (HDMI)
- Automatic format detection: NTSC, PAL, PAL-60, PAL-M*, NTSC-443* and SECAM*
- SCANLINE mode
- Adjustable comb filtering for Retro (notch) and Video (2-D comb)
- USB firmware upgrade capability - no special tools needed
*PAL-M, NTSC-443 and SECAM auto-detection and support have been implemented in the firmware but only limited testing has been done due to the inavalibility of these devices in the US.
The package includes a MicroUSB cable but no power supply.
As the 2X uses an advanced power supply filtering circuit and is tolerant of virtually any USB source. Best would be the port on your TV or display if you have one but any other USB Power supply should work fine as well.
Why should you get the RetroTink 2x-Pro if there are so many other cheaper converters available that can do the same?
Simple: It's the picture quality. You've never thought Composite looks so good!
Here's a video from Retro Boost who made a comparison of a cheap converter vs. the RetroTink 2x-Pro:
Sega Genesis and PS1/PSOne composite video generates off-spec signals and may not work correctly. For Sega Genesis, we recommend the HD Retrovision Cables. For PS1, we recommend a PS2 with good quality component cables.
We do not recommend the use of Elgato capture cards with the RetroTink and cannot provide technical support for Elgato equipment.
