Welcome to the Machine – a dystopian masterpiece for Game Boy Color
The Machine is not a port, not a remaster – it is a completely original game developed specifically for original Game Boy Color hardware. Developer Ben Jelter, in partnership with Incube8 Games, has created a work that delivers a fully-fledged narrative RPG experience on the small handheld.
The Story: A World Within a World
You live inside the Machine – a gigantic mechanical colossus on tracks that serves simultaneously as home, society, and political system. Your place in this hierarchical world is determined by an aptitude test taken at a young age: will you become a factory worker, a police officer, or something else entirely? Right at that moment, an election begins that could dramatically shape the future of the entire Machine. Explore the inner workings of this society, get to know its people – and decide which side you are on.
Gameplay: Non-linear, Consequential, and Highly Replayable
With over 25 possible endings, no two playthroughs are the same. Your decisions, your conversations, your profession – everything has consequences. The game rewards thorough exploration: players who interact with as many characters as possible and pay close attention will uncover secrets others will miss. Fans of dystopian fiction à la Orwell or Huxley will feel right at home – on 8-bit hardware, of course.
The Cartridge: No Cheap Flash Cart
Incube8 Games has put genuine craftsmanship into this release: the cartridge features a custom PCB with laser-cut artwork on the back – the clear black plastic shell makes the difference immediately visible. The game runs on original Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance – no compromises.
The Collector's Edition: The Full Package
The box itself is already a work of art – featuring a gorgeous illustration and a foil-embossed Incube8 logo on the front, with screenshots on the back. Inside you will find:
- Fold-out poster with a detailed cutaway view of the Machine
- 2 sticker sheets featuring characters in Ben Jelter's distinctive art style
- 2 pin badges featuring characters from the game
- Soundtrack CD (music by Lunchz) including a code for the digital edition of the soundtrack

- Full-colour manual
- The GBC cartridge itself with custom PCB and laser artwork
