SVS Component Input Module – Component Video for Your Scalable Video Switch

Got a bunch of consoles with component output – PS2, Xbox, Wii, GameCube, Xbox 360 – and want them all neatly connected to your Scalable Video Switch? That's exactly what this module is for. It slots into the SVS's modular input bay and gives you a full-featured component video input that understands both YPbPr and RGsB (Sync On Green).

Signal Formats & Resolutions

YPbPr is the most common component standard outside of Asia – the one coming out of consoles like the PS2, Wii, or Xbox 360. RGsB (Sync on Green) shows up in certain Japanese consoles and professional video sources. The module accepts resolutions from 240p all the way up to 1080p60, covering virtually every retro and early HD console out there.

Good to know: Independent testing shows that with many modules daisy-chained (around 6+), a subtle low-pass filter effect can become visible – mainly at higher resolutions like 1080p or 720p. For 240p and 480i this is a non-issue even at the maximum 32-input configuration. If you're running 480p or higher signals, just place this module close to the Control Module and the effect becomes negligible.

Features at a Glance

  • Signal formats: YPbPr (Component Video) and RGsB (Sync On Green)
  • Resolutions: 240p to 1080p60
  • Optional 9.5 MHz low-pass filter via slide switch on the module front – useful for noisy 240p/480i sources with poor cable shielding; disable for 480p and above
  • Optional Toslink digital audio support via separate Toslink Input Module
  • Auto-switching: The SVS detects the sync signal automatically – power on your console and the switch does the rest
  • Compatible with the entire SVS ecosystem (SCART, VGA, Composite/S-Video modules can be mixed freely)

Compatibility & Integration into the SVS System

The Component Input Module is an expansion module for the Scalable Video Switch – you need an SVS Control Module as a base. The SVS system supports up to 32 input modules and 6 output modules in any combination. Auto-switching works via sync signal detection: just power on the console you want to play and the switch handles the rest.

Scaler fans: The SVS supports direct integration with the RetroTink 4K including automatic per-input profile switching, as well as IR blaster functions for the RetroTink 5x, OSSC, and OSSC Pro.
