SVS Composite/S-Video Output Module – Classic Signals, Smartly Managed

Got a pile of retro consoles and want to route them cleanly to your CRT or an older display? That's exactly what this module is built for. The Composite/S-Video Output Module is an expansion for the Scalable Video Switch (SVS) – the modular, auto-switching analog video switching system built for serious retro gaming enthusiasts.

What This Module Does

The module outputs Composite Video via a classic RCA jack and S-Video via a MiniDIN-4 connector. It supports both NTSC and PAL signals – so whether you're running a Japanese Super Famicom or a European Mega Drive, you're covered. Maximum output resolution is 480i, which is exactly right for classic CRTs, PVMs, and older tube TVs that expect just that.

Worth knowing: S-Video delivers noticeably better image quality than Composite by transmitting luminance and chrominance on separate channels – goodbye dot crawl and color fringing. However, if you need to output 480p or higher, you'll want to look at the Component or VGA Output Module instead. This module is focused squarely on classic SD signals.

Optional Toslink Audio Upgrade

With the separately available Toslink Output Module, you can add digital audio output directly to the SVS – the Composite/S-Video Output Module is fully prepared for this upgrade and supports it out of the box.

Part of the SVS Ecosystem

The SVS supports up to 32 input modules and up to 6 output modules in its base configuration – in any combination of SCART, Component, VGA, and Composite/S-Video. Switching happens automatically via sync signal detection: just power on the console you want to play, and the SVS handles the rest. No manual button pressing required.
