Pre-order through 11 November 2026

We are initially offering the GPD G2 on a pre-order basis. Place your order by 11 November 2026 and we will order the required units from GPD. Delivery is planned for early December 2026, depending on manufacturing and shipping. This date is an estimate, not a guarantee. We offer selected configurations as part of this limited pre-order offer. All orders received by the deadline will be included in our order placed with GPD immediately afterwards. We expect delivery before the end of 2026; this depends on GPD. If there are any delays, we will inform you promptly.

Important: No graphics card is included

The GPD G2 is an external GPU docking station, not a graphics card. You receive the dock, integrated power supply and listed accessories, but no NVIDIA, AMD or Intel GPU. A suitable desktop graphics card must be purchased separately. Check card dimensions, power requirements and connectors before buying.

Desktop-class graphics for compact computers

Mini PCs and gaming handhelds are fantastic for productivity, travel and everyday games, but their built-in graphics eventually hit a limit in demanding 3D applications. The GPD G2 eGPU dock lets you install a compatible PCIe desktop graphics card in its open-frame design and connect it to a suitable host system.

The G2 provides a physical PCIe 5.0 x16 graphics slot. GPD lists compatibility with many NVIDIA GeForce generations through the RTX 50 series and suitable AMD, Intel and professional PCIe graphics cards. Actual compatibility depends on drivers, firmware, host connectivity and GPU power requirements.

The open design accommodates many large cards but needs a safe, ventilated location. An exposed GPU is not protected like one inside an enclosed case, so the system is less suited to frequent travel.

MCIO or USB4: choose your connection

MCIO 8i provides a PCIe 4.0 x8 connection between the G2 and a compatible host, offering substantially more PCIe bandwidth than traditional USB4 eGPU links. The Core Ultra 7 356H version of the GPD BOX has an MCIO connector. The Core Ultra X7 358H GPD BOX does not.

There is also a USB4 v2.0 port, supporting up to 80Gbps symmetric or 120/40Gbps asymmetric data transfer and compatible USB4 or supported Thunderbolt hosts. Older ports may run at lower speeds. The dock also supports USB Power Delivery up to 100W to appropriate devices.

Important with MCIO: MCIO alone does not enable the dock's USB hub functions. GPD requires a simultaneous USB4 connection for those additional ports when using MCIO. When USB4 is used alone, it carries the eGPU connection. A suitable MCIO cable is required; GPD lists one in the GPD BOX 356H package.

Extra USB, networking and NVMe storage

The G2 adds two USB-A 3.2 Gen 2 ports at up to 10Gbps and Gigabit Ethernet via RJ45, making the dock useful for desktop peripherals as well as graphics.

Behind a magnetic cover is an M.2 2280 NVMe slot connected through USB, providing PCIe 3.0 x2. GPD states that booting from an installed external SSD is supported. No SSD is included.

Integrated 800W Gold-rated power supply

The G2 has a built-in 800W ATX 3.1 Gold-rated power supply, avoiding the need for a separate external power brick. It supports modern 12V-2x6 GPU power connections and appropriate included adapter cables. GPD specifies at least 92% efficiency and 800W continuous output.

The gunmetal aluminium-magnesium housing measures approximately 157.3 x 119.8 x 182mm and weighs around 1605g without a graphics card. You also need enough space and airflow for the GPU you install.

Compatibility and practical limitations

GPD lists Windows 11 and supported Linux distributions. You need suitable graphics and, where required, USB4 controller drivers. If your computer does not offer MCIO, it needs a compatible USB4 or supported Thunderbolt connection. A normal USB-C port alone does not guarantee eGPU support.

An external graphics card is not necessarily as fast as the same card connected directly to a desktop motherboard. Available bandwidth depends on MCIO or USB4 and the host configuration. Connecting an external display directly to the graphics card is often the best setup for gaming.
