The A1 Engineer UMPC with a compact size of 7inch is primarily aimed at developers and industrial usage.
Not only does it offer a 1Gb network connection, but also a true 9-pin serial port (NO internal USB to serial adapter), which is ideal for debugging other systems.
In addition, the 1920x1200 screen can be flipped and folded down by 180° (see photo), so that it can also be used as a notepad with the included stylus.
Of course, you can also use your fingers to work with the touchscreen.
Thanks to a backlit keyboard, you can also work in dark areas without any issues.
The backside of the A1 has screw holes compatible with VESA mounts. So you can easily mount it to machines or wall mounts.
Two large USB-A ports and a USB-C port (which can also be used to charge the device - even with a power bank) make sure you can connect multiple USB devices at the same time.
With the included MicroHDMI port, you can easily connect it to any monitor and the built-in Wifi (2.4GHz and 5GHz Dual) and Bluetooth should be enough for most wireless communications.
The CPU has been carefully chosen for the device: It's powerful enough for most tasks but does not need a lot of power (it's the same one that is being used in the GPD Win 2).
Windows 10 is preinstalled on the device.
Linux can be installed and runs almost without any problems. Only the touchscreen driver and the fingerprint reader don't work yet.
